Crafts at Work
Hi, I am Louise
I am a multi-crafter and love to create beautiful things.
My crafting bug started at a very young age when my gran taught me to knit. I also learnt how to crochet and won a sewing prize at school for my needlework skills.
I now love to try out new crafts and combine them to make unique gifts, accessories and wearables,
I am working on a range of craft kits to add to my pin loom weaving kits. My husband Keith is able to support this endeavour by developing and making the kits to our own specifications using his laser machine and design skills. He also produces some of the "hardware" I use in my makes, such as buttons, bag handles and buckles.
I love to work with fibres in all forms, from raw wool straight off the sheep to luxury yarns. I have a passion for using natural materials and always try to buy from local suppliers and use British wool wherever possible.
I have exhibited and demonstrated my creativity at local crafting events over the years. In our website you can see examples of my creations, many of which are available via our online store.
I can also make one-off creations for you. Just send me a message to discuss further.
I also run workshops in upcycling, weaving, simple jewellery making and basic crochet. Contact me here for further details
The pages below will give you an insight into the different crafts I like to pursue.
Please browse our online store to view a varied array of hand crafted products produced by myself and my husband.
Pin Loom Weaving
Pin loom weaving is different to regular warp and weft weaving as it uses a continuous thread across the entire loom to create a fabric square. You can then use the squares to make a variety of items such as bags and clothing.
I make a lot of items using this method and then customise to give each product a unique and personal touch.
I also run workshops to teach you how to pin loom weave. I can bring my workshop to you and each class can cater for up to 10 persons at a time. The workshops are around 2 to 3 hours long depending on numbers in the class. For further details or to book a workshop please contact me here

Felting Wool
There are different ways to use raw wool. I like to felt the wool I use and there are different methods for this.
You can wet felt by taking prepared wool and using hot water, soap and a lot of elbow grease, to create a piece of usable fabric, a picture or even a 3 dimensional item.
You can also needlefelt which involves using prepared wool and some very sharp barbed needles. You can create 2 or 3 dimensional pieces of work as standalone items or embellishments to other works.
You can also use a washing machine to felt/shrink and peice of wool fabric. This could be an old pure wool jumper or a series of squares made on a pin loom then sewn together.
The options with this art form are many and the results, sometimes surprising.
I run workshops for needlefelting where all the materials are supplied and after around 2 to 3 hours you will have something to take home with you. Class size is a maximum of 10 people. Please drop me a message here for further details.
